Will The Hype For UFC 92 Surpass The Hype Of UFC 79?

<

Traditionally the last UFC event of the year is ’stacked’ more so than any other event of the year.  This time last year MMA fans were on the verge of witnessing one of the most anticipated match ups in the history of our very young sport in Liddell vs. Silva.  That fight delivered and uncharacteristically lived up to the hype.  The event also featured the 3rd fight between Matt Hughes and Georges St. Pierre, and the UFC debut of PRIDE standout Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.

Now here we are a year later, and again we find Wanderlei Silva in the midst of things as he squares off for the 3rd time against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.  There are two titles on the line with Forrest Griffin defending his LHW belt against Rashad Evans, and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira defending his interim title against Frank Mir.

I want you to think back to last year and recall your feelings as you anticipated UFC 79.  UFC 92 on paper looks to be incredible.  Do you think the hype for UFC 92 will surpass the hype created for UFC 79?

one word….yes

92 is a far superior card.

Liddell vs Wanderlei was the only real standout fight. Everyone knew Hughes was gonna get clobbered. Sokoudjou’s debut was a letdown and Machida is considered boring by the casual fan. The other fights aren’t even worth mentioning. (Luis Cane’s debut wasn’t aired)

On the other hand, Evans-Griffin, Nog-Mir and Silva-Jackson are all huge bouts capable of headlining any UFC event. And Kongo-Al Turk promises to be a great fight as well.

92 has to go down as one of the greatest cards EVER.

Yea, I was asking moreso about the hype from a frame of mind of BEFORE UFC 79 actually took place. Although I know that’s difficult since we have already experienced the event. I can’t wait for UFC 92…

These are the type of articles that make me come to this website. You can find ‘breaking news’ type bulletins anywhere but analysis and commentary is a little harder to come by.
