Report: Jeremy Stephens vs. Efrain Escudero At UFN 18.
According to his Stephen’s myspace page:
Jeremy “LIL HEATHEN” Stephens is Fighting April 1st, UFC fight night 18 against Efrain Escudero.
Stevens is a tough fighter, and a good test for Escudero in my opinion. He gave Din Thomas a run for his money before losing via submission and went the distance with Spencer Fisher. Stevens was in an absolute war at UFC 91 against Raphael dos Anjos before winning via Mortal Kombat style uppercut. The TUF winners certainly are facing tougher opposition these days, when compared to the earlier winners for the most part. I’m certainly intrigued by this fight. What’s your take on it?
Shinya Aoki Will Settle For Being Second Best

In post fight notes after the K-1 Dynamite event, Shinya Aoki gave his thoughts on BJ Penn and the UFC:
“I think there’s no doubt that B.J. Penn is still the best at 155 pounds. He’s most likely the best fighter in the world. I don’t ignore the UFC,” Aoki commented. “I respect the UFC because it’s a very high level organization — a high summit in the sport.”
The credibility for the WAMMA belt goes right outta the window with that…LOL! I can respect him for acknowledging that someone is better than he is, but the next quote I just can’t figure out.

Dan Henderson Vs. Rich Franklin Promotional Video
Who you got in this fight and why? Also, I know Dana and Rogan are trying to hype the fight and all, but Henderson didn’t dominate Palhares.

MMA4Real’s Top Ten Predictions For 2009
While 2008 was another banner year for the sport of MMA. I really think 2009 could be better in many different respects. These predictions are in no particular order.
1. MMA will become legalized in the state of New York-I just see this getting done at some point this year. It’s inevitable.
2. Alistair Overeem will make his UFC debut-Overeem as a HW is scary. The guy is on an absolute tear and is clearly a top ten HW. The guy is marketable and has shown interest in fighting in the UFC. If Dana and Co. keep their word in pursuing the best fighters, then he’s one of the guys they need to get.
3. Barring legal setbacks, Rampage Jackson will be the fighter of the year in 2009-Rampage Jackson is capable of beating anyone in the LHW division. The guy has an incredible chin, KO power, and is a well rounded fighter. If he fights Rashad Evans I would give the nod to Rampage right now. I think he would beat Shogun in a re-match, and I think he would beat Lyoto Machida. Simply because Machida will not KO him, nor will be be able to manhandle Jackson the way he did Tito Ortiz. Oh, and he would beat Forrest Griffin in a re-match…I still think he won the first bout.
4. Anderson Silva will lose his MW title-It’s something that has to happen at some point. Anytime a fighter goes this long without losing or having a competitive bout they lose some of that edge. A match up with Demian Maia could very well make this prediction a reality.
5. Chuck Liddell will move up to the HW division-I’ve been calling for this move for months now, and it’s the way to keep Liddell viable to the UFC. Liddell will never be LHW champion again, especially with Rampage in the midst of a title shot again. Liddell vs. Lesnar would do huge PPV numbers.

Why Rashad Evan’s ‘Gestures’ Shouldn’t Bother You
![]()
First of all, I just have to say that Mike Whitehead is a certified idiot after listening to his latest interview.
1. He says that Rampage Jackson thew a lucky punch and put Wanderlei out.
2. He says that the UFC only wants the UFC to do well and not the sport of MMA.
3. He thinks Rashad’s antics/showboating is setting the whole sport of MMA back.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Had Staph Infection In UFC 92 Fight

According to Dana White from a radio interview with Dave Carmichael and reported by FiveOuncesofPain:
UFC President Dana White was a special guest on Monday’s edition of “The Carmichael Dave” show on Sports 1140 AM KHTK in Sacramento and offered his breakdown of UFC 92. During the course of the interview, White revealed that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira suffered from staph infection leading up to his interim UFC heavyweight title defense vs. Frank Mir
While this by no means takes anything away from Frank Mir, it does give some answers as to why ‘Minotauro’ seemed so lethargic in his performance.
